Project 80’s is an original IP developed by Brandoville Studio, brought to life in the form of a 2D animated short with a funky storyline and retro world aesthetic. The story follows two characters trapped in a futuristic colosseum, where they're forced into battle for the entertainment of the city's capitalist rulers and its people. Set in a vibrant, neon-lit world inspired by retro-futuristic culture, the project combines high-energy action with satire and style, making it both visually unique and narratively compelling. and societal commentary makes Project 80’s a standout piece in Brandoville’s animation portfolio.

ANIMATIC
STORYBOARD
In the animatic stage of Project 80’s, I approached the sequences with a funky and exaggerated visual style, emphasizing hyperbolic camera angles and lens choices to match the project’s retro energy. The scenes are packed with high paced gunfights and fast movements, requiring a strong sense of rhythm and timing. Despite the fast action, I paid close attention to scene continuity and flow, crafting transitions that enhance the overall dynamic of the animation.
REFERENCE
ENVIROMENT
For visual references, I drew inspiration from films like Tron utilizing vibrant, glowing box like elements and neon lighting that emphasized the world’s chaotic, entertainment-driven setting.

This is the environment design for the battle arena in the 80's project. It was created using Blender for the initial modeling and design, then refined in Photoshop for final touch-ups to enhance the details and overall look.
